THE AZURE RELIQUARY
An exquisite study in beauty, mortality, and the natural world.
Two brilliant blue Morpho butterflies take center stage in this one-of-a-kind assemblage, their iridescent wings suspended against a rich black velvet backdrop. Beneath them rests a goat jawbone sourced from the Rhodope Mountains of Greece, accompanied by a striking Callicore aegina butterfly.
An intricate arrangement of preserved botanicals, delicate dried blossoms, and moss surrounds the specimens, creating a composition reminiscent of a forgotten Victorian natural history collection.
Encased within an antique oval frame with distinctive convex bubble glass, this piece celebrates the delicate balance between life and decay.
